Malik Obama Confirms his Half-Brother Barack Obama Grew up a Muslim

Malik holds a photo of Obama and him in Muslim dress, reportedly when the two first met in 1985

According to Israeli Insider, apparently the Obamas of Kenya have been reading those scurrilous emails to which Barack likes to refer, because they have no doubt — contrary to the claims of the Obama campaign, that the presidential candidate was raised a Muslim. They take that as a given.

As the Jerusalem Post reports, “Barack Obama’s half brother Malik said Thursday that if elected his brother will be a good president for the Jewish people, despite his Muslim background. In an interview with Army Radio he expressed a special salutation from the Obamas of Kenya.”

The Obama brothers’ father, a senior economist for the Kenyan government who studied at Harvard University, died in car crash in 1982. He left six sons and a daughter. All of his children – except Malik — live in Britain or the United States. Malik and Barack met in 1985.

In a remarkable denial issued last November that still stands on the official campaign website, Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs issued a statement explaining that “Senator Obama has never been a Muslim, was not raised as a Muslim, and is a committed Christian.” Malik Obama, himself a Muslim, had not read the press release.

Melanie Phillips is the most recent commentator to draw attention to the massive body of evidence that leaves no doubt that Barak Hussein Obama was born a Muslim (Islam is patrilineal) and raised a Muslim (so registered in school, acknowledging attending Islamic classes, reported accompanying his step-father to the mosque, and able to recite the Koran in the original Arabic).

My position on this latest revelation from his family is to ask the question of why? He met this half-brother in 1985. How much could he have known about him? Didn’t his father leave his mother? This is nothing but a smear tactic by people who just don’t want to see Obama in the White House. To his brother, stop being a hater and be happy for your half-brother. I am sure that Sean Hannity, Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh and many others will seize upon this information, but so what if he was a Muslim at some point, does that make him a bad person? The man said that he is not and it should be accepted as such. For the record, not every Muslim is a terrorist and it is simply not fair to judge this religion based on what a small percentage has done wrong. The same holds true for all other religions. Just my thought, you be the judge…..

Strict Islam teaches a person that was a Muslim and leaves Islam is an infidel and should be killed. I doubt very much if Muslims would consider Senator Obama an ex-Muslim.

Although, as you know, I wouldn’t vote for him I like to look at the big picture and this is irrelevant.

You’re probably right about some of the “right-wing” celebrates and what they will do with this. To me it’s a waste of time and a divergence on important issues regarding policies.

God forbid everyone be held accountable for what their parents made them do, got them involved in, or even did themselves decades ago.

What might be significant is the Senator’s denial of ever being a Muslim when in fact he knew he was at a younger age. It might appear like another lie he will have to apologized for – after he spins it around.

Justadog, I agree with you on most points. Case in point, I went to a Catholic high school, not because I was a Catholic, but because my parents made that choice for me. Also, I went to a Methodist church when I was a child, but I am a Baptist by choice. So, I agree with you that Barack Obama is not responsible for what the choices his parent(s) made for him when he was a child. I do agree that there would be a really big problem for him if he denied ever being a Muslim, when in fact, he knew he was at a younger age. So, it will be very interesting to see if this gains any traction. Personally for me, I couldn’t care less about him being a Muslim in his youth. We have more important issues confronting America, but if, as you have rightly stated, he lied about it, then this would be another mess on his hands. I don’t believe that to be the case, but hey, Bill Clinton lied about Monica Lewinsky, so who knows! Thanks for the comments. See, we can agree on some things!

    LOL

If you and I agreed on every single thing I’d probably think you’re too boring to visit anymore.

But truth be told, you keep me thinking! Let’s help each other thru the journey.

Man-man! I, personally am SO tired of hearing every little thing about a candidates life blown up like it’s hugely significant.
What’s next: Obama wore mix-matched socks one day in grade school? McCain left the toilet seat up or down as some function?
If this is what we base our Presidential choice on, this country is worse off than anyone can imagine!

    1. while it is true that arabic culture (not islam) is patrilineal, Obama was born in Hawaii which the last time I checked was a state in the United States of America. So that cultural practice does not work here.

    2. Obama did go to a Madrasa but returned to the states before he was a teenager and when went to high school (where he was affectionately called Barry, my Nigerian wife always jokes about how Africans enjoy anglicizing their names… its too funny)

    3. the picture with Obama does not say anything about him being Muslim. He is wearing kuba (have a few of those outfits that look just like that giving to me by my Nigerian father in law who is NOT a muslim — he has tried to convert me to Christianity on several occasions).
