Jack Cafferty Says Race is the Biggest Issue in the Presidential Elections

Even Jack Cafferty is saying the obvious. He said on his blog the Cafferty Files has said that race is arguably the biggest issue in this election, and it’s one that nobody’s talking about. The differences between Barack Obama and John McCain couldn’t be more well-defined. Obama wants to change Washington. McCain is a part of Washington and a part of the Bush legacy. Yet the polls remain close. This is totally crazy, unless, of course, it is race.

Time magazine’s Michael Grunwald says race is the elephant in the room. He says Barack Obama needs to tread lightly as he fights back against the McCain-Palin campaign attacks. Right, Barack doesn’t want to come across as the big, bad black man attacking the poor delicate daffodil with the alabaster skin, Sarah Palin. Give me a break. What is Obama supposed to do, be the servile black man our black men were reduced to during slavery and the early 1900s? Or should be he play the role of Stepin Fetchit? Please, surely we have moved pass these ridiculous misconceptions. Since when is being white an automatic pass to the White House?

I agree with Jack Cafferty, the issue is literally being swept under a rug. What in the world has John McCain done and said about the economy that is remotely lucid? Nothing. So why is he neck and neck with Obama in the polls? Some people would rather have a bumbling idiot who is white as their president, rather than a black man, no matter how smart, innovative and educated he is. The world is watching the crazy antics by the right wing racists in America. If Germany can elect a woman, Angela Merkel as their Chancellor, I cannot fathom why we are having an issue electing a black man as president of the United States.
