It seems as though some police officers in Portland, Oregon are up in arms about the fact that some Obama campaign staffers at his recent rally, setup up porta-potties directly on top of the Portland Police Memorial, which honors the agency’s 25 fallen police officers. That rally drew a crowd of over 75,000 people. Well, guess who is getting blamed for the incident? Barack Obama.
According to NewsMax, Officer Thomas Brennan, who was working overtime at the rally, took a picture of the offending toilets, with the American flag still at half mast because of Police Officers Memorial Day, directly behind them. The local law enforcement memorial service had been held at the site only five days earlier. Their contention is that despite a large amount of open areas in the vicinity, the campaign staffers claimed the toilets were placed on the memorial for safety reasons to accommodate wheelchair access.
I read some of the comments from readers of the article and many were just plain ridiculous. Somehow, he is being blamed for what his staffers did. People, he’s the candidate, not the maintenance person nor the administrative person. He is the candidate and does not know what goes on every second in his campaign. Some comments even state that this lack of respect is indicative of what type of president he would be if he were to win the presidential elections.

Following the May 18 rally, the Portland Police Bureau was made aware that several portable toilets had been placed in the center of the police memorial at the park. After being notified of the incident, Obama campaign officials sent an apology letter to Portland Police Chief Rosie Sizer, and the Portland Police Association, calling it an unintentional error.
