This is a stark departure from what I usually cover, but I found this to be a little comical. Mantyhose–men are wearing tights. Ladies, would you want your husband or boyfriend to be caught in these? Not me. Actually, my husband would not be caught in that accessory. Well, Spiderman move over, you have competition! Hah!
Apparently pantyhose for men, or “mantyhose,” have been popular throughout Europe for years and now the trend has crept stateside. There are websites that cater to this new “trend.” Take Luxelegwear.com, for example. The company sells 13 different lines of hosiery for men. According to the NY Daily News, Luxelegwear’s sales have been increasing steadily, fueled by the Batman sequel, “The Dark Knight,” mid-July.
The site e-MANcipate.net is devoted to “accelerating the acceptance of male pantyhose as a regular clothing item,” and features a how-to guide for wearing mantyhose properly. While this may seem really cute to some people, I can’t see my husband wearing mantyhose and experiencing constricting, possible itching and plain discomfort. Yes, athletes wear tights, but folks, let’s be clear, Mantyhose can be worn with any attire. Hah! Have a bottle of clear nail polish handy to stop any snags.
