Former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan Finally Gets a Conscience in Time to Sell a New Book

It never ceases to amaze me at how low people will go to make a buck. The latest person associated with the Bush administration to finally get a conscience is former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan. You see he has a book coming out soon that will literally “rock the White House” as many have said in the media. McClellan slams President Bush on domestic and foreign issues, such as Iraq and Hurricane Katrina, in his upcoming memoir saying Bush was not “open and forthright on Iraq” and was slow in his response to Katrina. We all know this to be true.

According to Politico.com McClellan’s harsh words include allegations that two top aides held a secret West Wing meeting to get their story straight about the CIA leak case at a time when federal prosecutors were after them, and that Bush relied on “propaganda” to sell the war in Iraq. This could be a mess for the Bush Administration and rightly so.
According to media reports, the former secretary alleged in his book “What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington’s Culture of Deception,” that I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, the vice president’s then chief of staff, and Karl Rove, the president’s then senior adviser, “had at best misled” him about their role in the disclosure of former CIA operative Valerie Plame’s identity, the Web site reported.
In reference to Hurricane Katrina, McClellan writes that the Bush White House “spent most of the first week in a state of denial.””One of the worst disasters in our nation’s history became one of the biggest disasters in Bush’s presidency. Katrina and the botched federal response to it would largely come to define Bush’s second term,” he writes, according to the Web site. “And the perception of this catastrophe was made worse by previous decisions President Bush had made, including, first and foremost, the failure to be open and forthright on Iraq and rushing to war with inadequate planning and preparation for its aftermath.” What happened in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina was a disgrace and was an eery reminder of what happens in a Third World country.

If these statements are true, why did McClellan not bother to resign earlier during his tenure in the White House because these actions were against his beliefs? What it comes down to for me is that he is just another person trying to make a fast buck out there. We all know that President Bush has done some horrific things during his tenure, but did we have to wait a little over two years for Scott McClellan to muster up the courage or get a book deal to hear exactly what went on in the White House. I am pretty sure that the Bush Administration will see him as a Judas Iscariot, but if you ask me, President Bush should be tried for war crimes for what happened in Iraq, but that will never happen. So the only solace we have is the fact that he will go down in history as one of the worst presidents in U.S. history. When you think about back-breaking debt, think George Bush and thank all the people who voted for him the second time around. Just my thoughts, you be the judge….
