This is such a tragic and shocking turn of events. The bond for two teenage boys accused of bludgeoning Capri Walker, 51, for her Xbox was set at $1 million each today. According to the Chicago Tribune, authorities have charged Kawanis N. Trotter, 14, and his cousin Roddee W. Daniel, 15, with first degree homicide and armed burglary in connection with a local woman’s killing. Police say the teens killed Ms. Walker early Sunday morning before taking a video game console, jewelry and some coins. Here’s the kicker–Daniel lived next door to the woman.
I echo the sentiments of Kenosha Police Chief John Morrissey, “It just boggles our minds here. How can a 15-year-old and a 14-year-old boy murder somebody over an Xbox?”
Morrissey said a caller to the Crime Stoppers tip line provided information about the two boys, leading to the arrests. According to the Tribune, if convicted, the teens face life in prison under a Wisconsin law that allows anyone over 10 years of age to be tried as an adult in murder cases. They are currently being held in the Racine County Juvenile Detention Center.
Police continue to investigate this crime, and authorities say other arrests may be pending. The District Attorney is reviewing the case.
Wow, this is disturbing on so many levels, but these young men are in some really serious trouble and I cannot understand, if proven, why these boys would do something so brutal and over a video game system? That is really crazy and very tragic.
