Michelle Malkin Says We Owe Sean Delonas An Apology for the Outrage Over the His Chimp Editorial Cartoon

Conservative blogger Michelle Malkin saw nothing wrong with the NY Post’s chimp cartoon. I am not surprised. I visited her site just to see the hateful rhetoric she would be spewing. Below is an excerpt from her post on her blog. Funny, I wonder if she was offended when Miley Cyrus stretched her eyelids to look Asian or I wonder if Michelle Malkin would get upset if someone called her a “chink.” So, it is downright ridiculous for her to make hay out of a terrible situation. I think she has forgotten what her ethnic background is. To same holds true for CNN Contributor Amy Holmes, who said that it was only a cartoon.

Going ape over the New York Post
By Michelle Malkin • February 19, 2009 11:12 PM

Al Sharpton and his race racketeers went ape over New York Post staffer Sean Delonas’s anti-stimulus editorial cartoon involving that famous crazed chimp. They picketed the News Corp. building, organized boycotts, targeted advertisers, floated a challenge to Rupert Murdoch’s FCC license — and now the New York Post has apologized.

Oops. Can I say “went ape” anymore? How about “going bananas?” Shall I refrain from asking the race demagogues to quit “monkeying around?” Do I erase “It’s a jungle out there” and “It’s a zoo” from my lexicon? How about “beastly?”

Just a few yelps from Sharpton and the professional protesters who see RAAAAACISM in every inkblot prompted the spunky tab (for whom I write and proudly so) to apologize to “those who were offended by the image.” The Post then goes on to observe in its statement on Sharpton’s cartoon jihad:

…there are some in the media and in public life who have had differences with The Post in the past – and they see the incident as an opportunity for payback. To them, no apology is due.

The only people “offended by the image” of the crazed cartoon chimp — who clearly symbolized the crazed lawmakers on the Hill who passed the stimulus in a frenzy — are the opportunists. No apology is due to anyone except cartoonist Delonas, whose character has been smeared by the manufacturers of grievances demanding his head.

Too many in the MSM continue to treat Sharpton as an entertaining clown, instead of the rabid hound he has always been. (”Hound.” Is that acceptable?)

This is the moral of the story: Submission to racial intimidation yields only more racial intimidation. You don’t get the monkey off your back by feeding it. Yeah, I said “get the monkey off your back.” Sue me. Source: Michelle Malkin

I have to wonder where Michelle Malkin’s scruples lie. I am sure she has been discriminated against because she is of Asian descent. In case she hasn’t noticed, she still hasn’t crossed over to the other side. So, she says that Mr. Delonas is owed an apology. By whom? Who drew the cartoon that incited all this anger? Come on Michelle Malkin, you are a parent, how would you explain racism to your kids? That there is none and blacks are just running around seeking to start trouble? Or how do you explain the slant-eyed jokes aimed at people of Asian descent, like you?

For the record, Ms. Malkin, I take offense to being called a race racketeer. When you have been discriminated against because of the color of your skin, had to sit at the back of a bus, not by choice but against your will; had to use a separate entrance or sit in a “negro section” at the theater; you couldn’t attend a university because of the color of your skin; beaten and lynched; basically treated like horsesh**, then you have earned the right to call someone a race racketeer. I spent my formative years in Jamaica, where it was never about race, but about your economic means. I grew up with the mindset that I am limited only by my capabilities. That was not the case in the United States of America 40 years ago, and persists in some pockets of the country to this very day. So, the notion that we accept your rhetoric is insulting on so many levels.

To all my readers, spread the word and tell your friends about Michelle Malkin’s empty rhetoric. She seems to have a big problem with racism. She seems to think we are making it all up!

Rev. Al Sharpton Says that General Colin Powell "of My Color, Not of My Kind."

Can somebody please tell me why Rev. Al Sharpton has set his sights on Gen. Colin Powell? Well, Rev. Al Sharpton’s appearance at Middlebury College drew a small crowd, even though the school made preparations to accommodate an over-flow crowd. That wasn’t to be. People really don’t want to hear the empty rhetoric coming from Revs. Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson.

Rev Al. Sharpton said “I will not overwhelm you because I understand you have a controversial speaker here tonight.” “If there are those who disagree with me, or don’t like me, I would hope at the end of the night they get a good night’s sleep because I assure you, I will.”

He went on to say that the election of Barack Obama as the nation’s first black president is an invalid reason for a return to complacency. “Many feel that because we have had a huge historical momentous occasion with the election of Barack Obama, that all of a sudden we no longer need advocacy, and this could not be further from the truth,” Mr. Sharpton said. “Fox News … now announces we are beyond race, when they said we never had a racial problem in the first place. How does my good friend Sean Hannity preach the funeral of a body that he said there never was?” Source: Washington Times

Here is where I have a big problem with Mr. Sharpton. He also expressed distaste for former Secretary of State Colin L. Powell, whom he characterized as being “of my color, not of my kind.” Can somebody tell me what exactly did Gen. Powell ever do to Rev. Al? Wait, is it because Mr. Powell does not interject race every time he opens his mouth? Wait, could it be that Gen. Powell has never picked up the rallying, but oftentimes, racist cry of Rev. Al Sharpton to pick on everyone and everything, except holding his own accountable for their actions? Please.

Rev. Al Sharpton, you have zero credibility next to Colin Powell. Not everyone wears their race on their sleeves. Then Rev. Al Sharpton wonders why the seats for his speech were largely unfilled. People really don’t want to hear the empty rhetoric. Rev. Al Sharpton and Rev. Jesse Jackson are not the moral compasses of the black community. I have yet to hear Rev. Al Sharpton attack black-on-black crime, but he is quickly on the scene when there is perceived injustice against a black person at the hands of a white person. Come on. This is totally ridiculous. Sharpton is just seeking to drum up publicity for his National Action Network, inaction on many social issues is more like it.

Ken Germana Installs Sign Calling for a Public Hanging of Barack Obama, John Kerry, Nancy Pelosi, Al Sharpton, Feds Investigating

Well, the racist behavior continues. According to the Bonner County Daily Bee, the U.S. Secret Service has been asked to review a sign a Bonner County landowner put up which suggests a “free public hanging” of President-elect Barack Obama and several other political figures. According to the newspaper, the handmade cardboard sign also features a noose fashioned from a length of nylon rope.

“That’s a political statement. They can call it whatever they want, a threat or whatever,” said Ken Germana, who installed the sign on his property off Golden Gate Road in southwestern Bonner County.

Obama’s name is the most prominent on the sign, although it also bears the names of former Democrat presidential nominee John Kerry, current U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi and civil rights activist and former presidential candidate Al Sharpton.

Germana said he poses absolutely no threat to Obama, but admits he would not lose any sleep if harm did come the president-elect’s way. He said he made the sign to protest hypocrisy in two high-profile incidents involving effigies of Republican vice president nominee Sarah Palin and Obama.

Of course, he says that there is no racial tone in his sign.

“If these Katzenjammer cops want to pursue it, God bless ’em. But I’ve got my rights just like everybody else does,” he said.

Wow, what a hypocrite. If I hung a picture similar to that in my front yard with President Bush, Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld, Condi Rice, then I am sure someone would have called the cops. That’s not the way to make a political statement.

NY City Transit Cop Comes Forward To Tell Account Of Alleged Sodomy Of Michael Mineo By Eight Cops

I deliberately waited a few days before writing about the latest alleged case of police brutality in New York City. The latest twist in this sodomy assault comes as a NYPD transit cop breaks ranks to implicate his fellow officers and is offering to tell what he saw the afternoon Michael Mineo allegedly said he was sodomized on a subway platform.

According to the NY Daily News, the cop’s account of what happened “is bad” for the other three officers accused by Michael Mineo of sodomizing him with a radio antenna on a Brooklyn subway platform Oct. 15. The transit cop’s lawyer is talking with the Brooklyn district attorney’s office about his client coming forward to give his version of events.

A little background…. Three patrol cops from Brooklyn’s 71st Precinct chased Mineo after supposedly seeing him smoking a marijuana cigarette. The transit cop arrived as Mineo was arrested, sources said. Mineo, 24, was issued a summons for disorderly conduct and released.

Brooklyn District Attorney Charles Hynes called a grand jury to investigate the incident based on Mineo’s medical records and the divergent witness accounts. Mineo was hospitalized four days after the incident, and released Tuesday after another, five-day stint in the hospital. All officers remain on full duty.

It would be sad if this is another Abner Louima-type case. It seems the New York’s Finest has been called on this type of behavior before. I will reserve judgment and wait until the facts in the case are revealed. I seem to recall Sean Hannity and others saying that Abner Louima had engaged in rough gay sex, but that was farthest from the truth and he went on to receive the largest settlement in New York City history for police brutality. Let me also remind you that the Justin Volpe, the ringleader, was imprisoned for what he did to Mr. Louima. I must applaud this transit cop for coming forward to tell his story. So many times, there seems to be a brotherhood among police that they will not squeal on each other.

Rapper Ludacris Gets Dressed Down by Obama Campaign for Crude Lyrics

It appears that Barack Obama is going to have to distance himself from yet another supporter. This time Ludacris has crossed Obama. Ludacris has stooped to a new low, especially since he is trying to come across not just as a rapper, but a conscious brother. In his latest rap he calls Senator Hillary Clinton a “bitch” and said that John McCain “don’t belong in any chair unless he’s paralyzed” and also throws insults at Jesse Jackson and George W. Bush. The lyrics are actually very insulting and crude, but hey, the music companies don’t seem to mind the garbage they are backing, so how can we stop this crap from infiltrating our airwaves? Actually, people keep buying this kind of music, so how can we wipe it out?

Obama campaign spokesman Bill Burton issued a statement, condemning Ludacris for his ridiculous lyrics.

“As Barack Obama has said many, many times in the past, rap lyrics today too often perpetuate misogyny, materialism, and degrading images that he doesn’t want his daughters or any children exposed to. This song is not only outrageously offensive to Senator Clinton, Reverend Jackson, Senator McCain, and President Bush, it is offensive to all of us who are trying to raise our children with the values we hold dear. While Ludacris is a talented individual he should be ashamed of these lyrics.”

This is one dust-up we really don’t need, but since Rev. Jesse Jackson has turned out to be the hypocrite many people thought he is. I don’t expect to hear him add his two cents, nor do I expect to hear Rev. Al Sharpton condemning Ludacris, since he thought we must forgive Jackson for the crude comments he made about Obama. So, I hope he will afford Ludacris the same consideration he did his home-boy Jesse.

Federal Prosecutors Drop Criminal Probe of Rev. Al Sharpton’s Finances

So, I guess this was a witch hunt after all. According to the NY Daily News, federal prosecutors have dropped their criminal probe of fiscal irregularities and tax fraud by the Rev. Al Sharpton and his National Action Network. Lawyers for Sharpton said that means that his tax tangle won’t result in an indictment or jail time, or even an appearance before a grand jury, though he’s agreed to pay millions in back taxes. It also means the feds aren’t pursuing allegations the civil rights leader extorted contributions from corporations in exchange for not protesting against them.

Rev. Al Sharpton gets a helluva laugh at the expense of his large and vocal chorus of critics and accusers. Let me be honest, I was one of those critics because I felt he was careless for not having proper financial oversight for his organization, but the authorities can goof up too, which it seems like they did in this instance. Sharpton and the National Action Network (NAN) have agreed to a tax settlement of between $2 million and $9 million.

“According to the government, Rev. Sharpton individually owed in excess of $1 million and NAN owed in excess of $1 million, over 50 percent of which was penalties in both cases,” said Michael Hardy, Sharpton’s longtime lawyer. Legal bills related to the long-running case total another $2 million, Hardy said.

I guess the Feds realized that his sources of personal income are fairly straightforward. He hosts a syndicated daily radio show heard in 40 markets nationwide, as well as a weekly TV show and regular (paid) appearances on the “Tom Joyner Morning Show.” According to the NY Daily News, the media gigs pay him a combined salary of $750,000 a year. He also earns royalties on his two books and lecture fees of $15,000 to $20,000 a shot, along with amounts in the $2,000 range for giving sermons at churches around the nation – often, two on any given Sunday. That basically means Sharpton can easily take home close to a million a year – and often plows his earnings into his civil rights group, making loans and donations to NAN. All the shifting money caused an unholy fiscal mess, particularly in recent years after a fire destroyed NAN’s records. Hardy said that the group fell behind on submitting payroll taxes, raising red flags with the authorities.

So while Rev. Al’s heart is in the right place, his head must also be in the right place in terms of putting the proper financial oversight in place to avoid a financial mess. I guess it is fitting for me to say at this point, Rev. Al, sorry for being so critical of you and shame on the Feds for creating such furor over what amounted to a civil matter! It just goes to prove the reverend’s position, that blacks are treated differently and many times unfairly in so many situations.

Don Imus Comes Under Fire for Race Comment About Adam ‘Pacman’ Jones Arrest

Once again, shock jock Don Imus is in the news again. This time Imus has drawn fire for race comment. During an on-air conversation Monday about the arrests of suspended Dallas Cowboys cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones, Imus asked, “What color is he?” He was told by sports announcer Warner Wolf that Jones is “African-American,” Imus responded: “There you go. Now we know.”

Of course, civil rights leader Al Sharpton, forgetting his own financial mess which now involves the feds, has issued a statement calling the exchange “disturbing because it plays into stereotypes.” He says his National Action Network will decide in the next day or so whether to take any action.

Imus was fired from his previous show last year after he made a racially charged comment about the Rutgers women’s basketball team. The last thing we need is this mess from Imus again. More to come, I am sure. Don Imus is an idiot for thinking that he could make comments of this nature again and get away with it. I have to admit that Pacman Jones is a wayward soul who does not deserve the time of day because of his behavior, but come on Don Imus, get real. I knew he would put his foot in his mouth again. Today he’s trying to clean up his comments by saying that he was on “our” side. Since when do we need help from Imus? If he had qualified his statements when he first made the comment, then I am sure there would be no fall-out and dust-up.

So, while we attack Don Imus for his comments, let us also be mindful of the insulting and despicable comments Shaquille O’Neal made in his freestyle diss of Kobe Bryant. If we are going to come out in droves when Imus makes derogatory comments, let us do the same when we do it. Shaq claims to be a role model to young black men, but I wonder if he ever stopped to think that being a role model means more than just giving money to charity.

Rev. Al Sharpton Financial Woes Draws Renewed Attention from the IRS

The New York Post recently wrote a long investigative article about Rev. Al Sharpton “shakedown” of big companies to get money. Well, it turns out that the Internal Revenue Service has gotten involved and this looks none too pretty for Rev. Sharpton. I did not write about this before because I wanted to see what, if anything the IRS and NY Attorney General would do. According to the NY Post, the probe into the Rev. Al Sharpton’s finances intensified this week, with the IRS sending out a flurry of subpoenas to his most generous corporate donors, The Post has learned.

Anheuser-Busch, the brewer of Budweiser and Michelob, confirmed yesterday that it received a federal subpoena in connection to its charitable giving to Sharpton’s National Action Network. “We have received a subpoena and are cooperating with the IRS,” the company said in a statement.

Sharpton blasted the subpoena as a “fishing expedition” and said his donors are proud of their financial support. The St. Louis-based corporation donated between $100,000 and $499,000 to NAN in 2007 alone, according to its Web site, but declined further comment about its relationship with Sharpton. A knowledgeable source said several other corporate donors received or would soon receive subpoenas.

The unfortunate reality is that Sharpton himself, his business entities and his nonprofit civil-advocacy group owe millions in back taxes, documents show. To me, this shows a serious problem with his organization’s fiscal oversight and it is very damning, to say the least. You know the deal, it doesn’t take much for the IRS to come swooping down into your stuff, so it is always best to err on the side of caution. The problem is, Rev. Al Sharpton has had problems with the IRS before and he has had to pony up some serious funds too.

The IRS and the US Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn have an ongoing probe into Sharpton’s finances going back to his 2004 run for president and stewardship of NAN.
Last year, state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo began a probe of NAN because it failed to follow state financial-disclosure regulations for nonprofits. Who is he paying to do his books?

Cuomo’s office has since turned over its NAN file to the US Attorney’s Office. According to news reports, as of 2006, the most recent year that financial documents for the group are publicly available, it owed $1.9 million in payroll taxes and penalties. Ten NAN staffers were slapped with subpoenas this past December, and the Anheuser-Busch subpoena is part of the same probe.

Sharpton has been accused of threatened boycotts or protests against corporations while simultaneously soliciting donations and sponsorships of NAN events, The Post detailed. Personally, Sharpton owes $931,397 in federal taxes and $365,558 in New York City taxes, according to an IRS lien.

Sharpton said “I think that this is a clear, transparent political investigation, because if they started an investigation in December, why would they be subpoenaing people after December unless they are on a fishing expedition?” “Most of my annual donors had already spoken to the IRS when we did audits. We do audits every year.” So, this begs the question of why is it that NAN’s finances are still a hot mess? It seems to me that Rev. Al Sharpton is not practicing what he preaches and I don’t believe that everything that has transpired in this ongoing investigation is a fishing expedition. I know that there are times when the government picks on people, as was the case with Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., but the fact that Sharpton & Co. have missed is that they do owe the government a lot of money.

This is a test for Rev. Al Sharpton and how he comes out of this will have an effect on his persona and his image. Many have felt that both Sharpton and Rev. Jesse Jackson have long engaged in corporate “shakedowns” and maybe the chicken have come home to roost for Rev. Al. The bottom line is that he needs to practice what he preaches and be accountable for his organization’s financial matters. He needs to do the right thing. He is trying to empower young black men to do the right thing. Then he must do the same in all areas of his life. He has done some good things for the black community, but many others do not remember him for those things. They instead dwell on the Tawana Brawley incident, among other things. I like Rev. Al Sharpton, but at this stage, he has a big problem that he cannot continue to say is a “fishing expedition” by the powers that be. Just my thoughts, you be the judge…..
