According to Fort Mill Times, Obama supporters have said that conservative Idaho radio host Zeb Bell made racist comments against Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama and the incident has sparked criticism against a southern Idaho radio station, with some in the community calling for the show to be canceled.
Obama supporters allege a conservative talk show host on Rupert, Idaho-based KBAR AM this week referred to the Illinois senator as the “black Negroid Barack Hussein Obama.”
Others also say a guest on Zeb Bell’s show called Obama’s mother “trailer trash” who has a fixation on black men. Obama’s mother is white. His father is from Kenya.
Bell, who has hosted his show on KBAR since 2000, denied making any racist comments but acknowledged a friend and guest, Frosty Wooldridge, did make inappropriate remarks on the air Monday.
Separately, in Harris county, Texas, neighbors said a sign posted by a Houston-area man is causing tension and fear. They say the sign is offensive. It makes a derogatory and profane reference to Sen. Barack Obama’s bid to become president. “Whoever did this is a racist,” neighbor Laz Socarras said. “They hatin’ on Obama,” neighbor Jarmaine Calvin said. The painted plywood sign, which Calvin said he drives past every day, has the “n-word” and another profanity prominently displayed on it.
Residents say this sign is causing tension and fear in a Harris County neighborhood.
It’s posted on an empty corner lot full of junk and overgrown weeds. The neighbor-hood where the sign is posted is populated mostly with Hispanics and whites,only a few blacks.
Yeah, this election has really brought the worst out in so many people on so many different levels. I would issue a word of caution to Americans in general–the whole world is watching what is happening in America. The bottom line is that if you cannot elect a black man or a woman to be the president, then it is sending a terrible message to the world that America, the superpower is racist and sexist. If Germany can elect a woman as Chancellor and the United Kingdom could elect Margaret Thatcher as Prime Minister and the Phillipines could elect Corazon Aquino as head of state, among other countries accomplishing such a feat, then I cannot see any reason why America cannot do the same.
The racist graffiti and comments will continue throughout this campaign and if Barack Obama prevails in the Fall, it will continue throughout his entire presidency, but we will not put up with it and we will not be deterred or frightened by these comments. We have a right to run for the highest office in this country. The white man does not have “dibs” on that position. It is open to any American of any skin color, any ethnicity and any sexual orientation. for all those “journalists” and commentators on Fox News, such as Sean Hannity, E. D. Hill and Michelle Malkin, spreading hate, we have you on “blast” and we will not ignore your low brand of journalism. Just my thoughts, you be the judge…..
