Whoopi Goldberg Asks John McCain Whether She Should be Worried About Being a Slave With His Interpretation of the Constitution

Well, John McCain seemed to have received a little more than he had bargained for when he appeared on “The View” this morning. The moment he sat down the drama began. I have to give Joy Behar and Whoopi Goldberg some props!

“I don’t see the old John McCain who used to buck the system as much, I understand why. You want to get elected,” said co-host Joy Behar. “I’m the same person that I always was,” McCain answered. She also accused McCain of spreading “lies” in his latest TV ads, one of which accused Barack Obama of smearing Palin by using the phrase “lipstick on a pig.”

Then Barbara Walters had to give her two cents: “You yourself used the same expression.” Amen! McCain used that expression last year to describe Hillary Clinton’s health care policies. She had earlier skeptically questioned how Palin would reform Washington.“How?” she pressed.

McCain asserted Palin was a “reform” governor of Alaska and cut spending, while Walters countered that she accepted earmarks. Hah! So she accepted less earmarks than her predecessor! An earmark is still an earmark!

Co-host Whoopi Goldberg also questioned Palin’s faith, asking him if he believes in separation of church and state.“Sure,” McCain said. “So if you believe in the separation of church and state,” Goldberg followed up, “did it not give you a moment of pause that Sarah Palin, should God forbid anything happen to you, not have the same beliefs that you do about these things?” Alright Miss Whoopi!

Then she pounced again. She asked McCain about his strict interpretation of the Constitution. She went there! She added: “Should I be worried about being a slave and being returned to slavery? Because certain things happened in the Constitution that had to change.”“I understand your point,” McCain said.
