Racing Enthusiasts: Atlanta NASCAR Race Tickets Cut To $17

For all those NASCAR enthusiasts, you will be able to buy tickets to the Kobalt Tools 500 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway for $17 beginning Monday morning thanks to the win by Matt Kenseth in the Daytona 500 Sunday. Why? Kenseth drives the number 17 Ford and officials at the Atlanta Motor Speedway announced that 1,000 $95 tickets will be sold at a price matching the number of the winning car at Daytona.

After those 1,000 tickets are sold, fans will be able to buy one regularly priced ticket and get a second for just $17.Last year after Ryan Newman won in the number 12 Dodge, the tickets were sold for just $12.

Danica Patrick Becomes First Female Winner in IndyCar History

I have to pay tribute to Danica Patrick for becoming the first female winner in IndyCar history Sunday. She took the Indy Japan 300 after top contenders were forced to pit for fuel in the final laps. Patrick finished 5.8594 seconds ahead of pole-sitter and Dancing with the Stars alum, Helio Castroneves on the 1.5 mile Twin Ring Motegi oval. I don’t really get into this sport, but, nonetheless we have to pay respect and acknowledge this woman’s accomplishment.

“It’s a long time coming. Finally,” Patrick said. “It was a fuel strategy race, but my team called it perfectly for me. I knew I was on the same strategy as Helio and when I passed him for the lead, I couldn’t believe it. This is fabulous.” Patrick won in her 50th career IndyCar start, taking the lead from Castroneves on the 198th lap in the 200-lap race. Patrick finished a career-best seventh in the season standings last year, and was second in the race at Detroit’s Belle Isle. At the 2005 Indy 500, she nearly won the pole and became the first female driver to lead the race en route to a fourth-place finish. It was the best finish by a woman at Indy, and helped her take rookie of the year honors.
